- Two quick questions for the folks:
-
- Q1:
- Somewhare on the 'Net is a batch renamer for Amigados that performs
- string operations on filenames, so that I can take 300 files with names like
- FiberOpticTubeFlythrough001 and scrunch them down into IBM 8.3's such as
- FIBER001.TGA. I have cheated sometimes by simply loading the image as
- a backdrop and re-rendering it to a different filename in LightWave.
- But Lightwave doesn't permit putting the numeric field in the middle of
- a file name (like FRAME001.TGA), it has to be tacked on to the end.
- I've been using a combination of LW and ProControl to do it, but due
- to an utterly inexplicable problem with my system, ProControl can no longer
- pattern match (I get a file requester for EACH file) and it is now useless.
- (This pattern matching problem affects zip as well -- MAJOR pain).
-
- Anybody know where it is? Please email me with the location -- many
- thanks!
-
- Q2:
- Can somebody quickly tell me how to format a SCSI device (like Syquests or
- portable external hard drives) so that they can be accessed on a PC? I
- need to move large amounts of files (200 to 300 MB at a time) from the
- Amiga LW to the Mandala PC systems. I vaguely remember something about
- CrossDos being able to do it. Ethernet is not an option just yet.
- Right now I do it by zipping and using Twin Express to do a 115 kbaud
- serial link overnight.
-
- Thanks for your assistance, gentlemen!
